Our hike begins in the Happy Valley, the lush green area of Ait Bougmez. You will walk through its traditional cottages and Kasbahs surrounded by red clay walls. Our hike will end in the high Mgoun valley. You will step back in time, and discover welcoming kind villagers and a diverse region. The Berbers of the Central High Atlas and nomadic families of the Mgoun highlands; you will pass the wonderful landscapes: canyons and rocky peaks sculpted by erosion and coloured by dusty red sands.

Day of travelling through the Ait Bougmez, a beautiful stage of emerald fields, olive and Argan trees and apple orchards. You will drive over high plateau and cultivated valleys scattered with wild oak trees. We arrive and meet your muleteer team. Then your adventure begins hiking through pretty Berber villages filled with colourful traditions.
Today you will climb higher to reach the high plateau. A vast arid land and the privileged region of the nomads who spend all summer here with their herds of goats and flocks of sheep. It’s from this little Mongolia, where you will climb the peak of the Central High Atlas, M’Goun at 4,068m. It is a wild and desolate mountain, offering grandiose views over the south and the Atlas massif.
You are now in a valley secluded from the world. Here the Ait Atta and Mgouna nomads temporarily settled as they journeyed from the Rose Valley and Saghro searching for communal fertile pastures to feed their herds. It’s the opportunity of an unforgettable life experience.
We gently leave the nomadic world, cross the pass and return to the cultivated valley of Ait Bougmez. Rich with apple orchards and walnut trees. Full of archaeological and cultural treasures. Find dinosaur bones and see communal granaries known as agadirs. These usually sit on hilltops for a clear view of the local area and were used for storing grain or for shelter in case of an attack. The shrines of Sidi Moussa and Sidi Chitta are fine examples. Our journey ends back in majestic Marrakech.
