Overview
The Saghro is a wild and untamed mountain range, unforgettable to those who have visited it; it is a truly awe-inspiring region. Charles de Foucauld, who crossed part of it, recounts that this range consists of a high plateau with an average altitude of 2,000 meters, reached by a series of long, sometimes stony, ramps… The upper plateau presents a vast, flat, and verdant expanse, bristling with volcanic peaks and ridges. Our trek unfolds in a pre-Saharan atmosphere, with a highest point reaching 2,600 meters. There are few villages, but enough nomads from the large Ait Atta tribe come to graze their flocks there.
